Gardening

Spent the afternoon tidying up some of the grevilleas and bottle brushes. I have two bottle brushes that were planted at the same time and are planted in the same area of the garden. Yet one is much larger and stronger than the other. Most of my Australian native came via the shires free tree planting scheme. A friend from work also collected her trees from the Ipswich shire for me. They actually give 5 trees a year or did way back 7 years ago. I would like to extend the garden, but as it is so dry at the present I am mindful of conserving water. There is not a great deal of watering to do in the garden but new plants do need a good supply early on.

Lots of birds arrive first thing in the morning to feed in this (grevillea superb) and the grevillea moonlight. The moonlight is quite a large tree now and I would need a ladder to photograph any of it's flowers.
I have bouganvillea along the front fence and of course they provide the most vivid colours and just thrive in the dry.
